My journey to yoga

My journey to yoga

Unlikely Yogi

I credit much of my personal and professional success to my commitment to holistic health. As a certified yoga teacher, I have been teaching yoga and mindfulness at studios and corporate offices for almost five years. I am passionate about teaching people to use the tools they already have--mind, body, and spirit-- to effect positive change in their lives.

However, I wasn't always so amenable to yoga and mindfulness.

My unlikely love affair with yoga began at age 20. As a Type A triathlete, I dismissed yoga as "too slow" and "too easy." However, when a quadricep injury left me sidelined from my usual activities, I reluctantly resigned myself to yoga classes. Sometimes in life, what initially feels like a punishment turns out to be a blessing in disguise — I fell in love with the mental and physical benefits of a regular yoga practice.

As I deepened my practice at yoga studios around the country, my fitness focus shifted from “torching calories” to feeling good. My desire to continue yogic education and share my passion for wellness led me to complete a 200-hour teacher training from Uptown Yoga in Fall 2013.

After receiving my teaching certification, I taught free weekly yoga classes to TI coworkers for three years. I knew I was ready to share the transformative power of yoga with a broader audience when those free classes became the highlight of my week! In 2016, I began offering yoga classes at Yoga Chikitsa. Since then, I've expanded to offer mindfulness classes at Mastermind and Self-Compassion workshops at venues across DFW.

Yoga has helped me overcome an eating disorder, recognize and combat addiction, and navigate mental health challenges with confidence. I am called to share the journey of self-healing with my yoga students.

It is impossible to overstate the benefits of self-commitment to uniting mind, body and spirit in daily practice.

I activate growth and innovation by sharing my passions with those around me. From technology to mindfulness, I bring people together to share in positive change.

Analyze materials from the palm of your hand and design with the smallest, most efficient DLP® chip for Bluetooth®-enabled mobile near-infrared sensing measurements.

I drive major technical innovations. My work at Texas Instruments and the University of Pennsylvania produced four TI products released to market, a U.S. patent, and technical publications in IEEE and Novus Light

At Texas Instruments, I led multi-million-dollar R&D programs in high brightness digital projection and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Most recently, my ten-person engineering team released the NIRscan Nano development platform, which uses TI DLP® technology to power the first handheld NIR spectrometer with Bluetooth connectivity. My participation in marketing execution resulted in over 200 module sales and $500k in revenue within the first six months of release.

My early transition from mechanical design to engineering management reflects my unique strengths in technical communication. Through in-person and remote communications with customers and suppliers in China, Taiwan, India and the US, I continue to bring people together across cultures and technologies.

Above + Beyond

My mission-driven attitude translates not only to bringing innovative technologies to market, but also to making strategic investments in the promotion of workplace diversity and mindfulness.

I am an active member of High Tech High Heels, where I inspires young women to pursue engineering degrees. I am also a supporter of Out & Equal Workplace Advocates. Under my passionate leadership, Texas Instruments brought the largest-ever team to the 2015 Out & Equal Workplace Summit.

In addition to supporting workplace diversity, I am an advocate of mind-body connection through yoga and mindfulness. Check out pictures from my travels and adventure below! No matter where I go, I love to represent a lifestyle of mindfulness and connection.
